Games for windows LIVE is probably ignoring your network interface because it is not ready "identifying..".

what you need to do is to assign manual IPs to your computers
1. open ncpa.cpl
2. right click your LAN adapter and hit properties
3. double click "internet protocol version 4"
4. click use the following IP address and write 192.168.1.10 and then click in the subnet mask to set it to 255.255.255.0
5. repeat the above for the second computer (the laptop) but write the IP 192.168.1.11
6. the identifying message should disappear. and Games For Windows will probably be kind enough to use that connection

your first problem is that your laptop detects "Dial up Connection" so the game tries to connect to the host true this dial up connection, if you are not using this dial up connection you can simply delete it. you can also try lowering it's priority as shown in the tutorial in the blog, but that actually doesn't work all the time. your best bet is to delete the dial up connection.

I can' t delete it. I need that. LOL. I think the top priority in my laptop is the "Local Area Connection", but maybe I used wrong setting? Since I can't find “manage network connections” in my Win 7, I try ncpa.cpl (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935310). Is this the same thing? However look at my pics.
   
I have put the LAN on the top but The Windows Live won't detect it.

what kind of LAN are you using? crossover? or do you have some kind of router / switch? if the message "Identifying.." takes a long time that is mostly because your computer is requesting an IP, but there is nothing to give it to it. if you have a router insure that DHCP is on. if you are using a crossover or a switch with no DHCP, you will need to set the IPs manually.

I just connect my laptop with PC using a standard LAN cable.

Sorry if I can only provide vague questions, because I am a noob (especially in networkings). LOL.

Btw how can I play games (like L4D2, warcraft, etc) although my connection only said "Identifying.."?

I installed RE 5 game to my pc (no antivirus, firewall off) and laptop ( avast and firewall with exception ). Whenever I try to play local coop, i always failed (even if I have turned of my laptop's firewall and avast).

When I host with PC:
- My laptop cannot detect the lan game

When I host with laptop:
- My game detected but whenever the pc joined, it said that the connection has lost.

I am certain that i don't have LAN problem, because i have tried serveral other games (although this is my first attempt to LAN with a game with "Games for Windows Live". Is it different? ).

How can I fix this?
